Privacy Policy (POPIA)

Trio Drones is the responsible party (data controller) for personal information processed through this website. Our information officer can be reached at sales@triodrones.co.za.

We collect only what we need to sell, deliver, support and warrant drone hardware.

• Identity and contact data: name, company, email, mobile number, VAT number and delivery address.
• Order data: products, serial numbers, invoice history, delivery notes and gate codes.
• Payment data: payment method, transaction references and partial card data supplied by our payment provider. We never store full card numbers.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed and referral source.
• Support data: fault descriptions, flight logs, photographs and correspondence.
• Marketing preferences and newsletter subscriptions.

We process personal information to conclude and perform a contract of sale, to comply with legal obligations (tax, consumer and aviation record-keeping), and for our legitimate business interests such as fraud prevention, service quality and direct marketing to existing customers. Marketing to new contacts is based on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

We share information only with parties who help us deliver: couriers, payment processors, warranty service providers, cloud hosting and email providers, and professional advisers. All operators are bound by written agreements with confidentiality and security obligations.

Where a supplier stores data outside South Africa, we ensure comparable protection through contractual safeguards recognised under POPIA, typically the European Commission standard contractual clauses.

Order, invoice and warranty records are retained for five years after the last transaction to satisfy the Tax Administration Act, Companies Act and consumer warranty requirements. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe plus 12 months. Flight logs supplied for support are kept for the warranty period.

You may exercise the following rights at any time by emailing our information officer.

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you and a record of its use.
• Request correction or deletion of information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive or unlawfully held.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing.
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (complaints.IR@justice.gov.za).

We use encryption in transit, access control, least-privilege permissions, network monitoring and staff confidentiality agreements. Card processing is delegated to a PCI-DSS Level 1 accredited provider. Should a security compromise occur that affects you, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by section 22 of POPIA.
