Our story

Trio Drones was registered with the CIPC in 2020 with one idea: South Africans should be able to buy a genuine drone from a local company they can phone, visit and hold accountable, instead of gambling on an overseas marketplace seller with no local warranty support.

We work from Stargate Centre, 20 Buffeldoorn, Flamwood, Klerksdorp, and deliver across the country. Our range covers 22 drones and combos from DJI and Insta360, from palm-sized selfie drones at R 4 695 to the Mavic 4 Pro creator kit at R 80 995. Every order comes with a South African VAT invoice, and if something goes wrong, we handle the warranty claim for you.

How we handle every order

  1. Order confirmation

    Your order is recorded the moment you check out. Card payments are confirmed by Stripe; EFT and bank transfer orders are released once funds reflect.

  2. Checked and packed

    We check every item against your order and pack it in its original manufacturer packaging. Orders placed before 13:00 SAST on business days leave the same day.

  3. Insured delivery or collection

    Your parcel travels with an insured courier and a tracking number, or you collect it from us in Klerksdorp by appointment.

  4. Set-up help

    Need help activating your drone, updating firmware or pairing the controller? WhatsApp us and we will walk you through it.

Warranty & quality assurance

New drones carry a 24-month warranty on the aircraft, and batteries are covered for 12 months or 300 charge cycles, whichever comes first. Both are counted from the date of delivery. Warranty repairs go through the manufacturer's authorised South African service channels with genuine parts, and we log and manage the claim for you.

To claim, send your order number, the drone's serial number, the flight log and photos or video of the fault to sales@triodrones.co.za or on WhatsApp. We reply within one business day.

What is covered

  • Manufacturing and material defects under normal use
  • Firmware defects that cause a documented malfunction
  • Dead-on-arrival units
  • Failures within the published operating limits (temperature, wind and voltage)

What is not covered

  • Crashes, collisions, misuse or flying outside published limits
  • Water damage from crash recovery or flying in rain
  • Third-party repairs, unofficial firmware or non-genuine batteries
  • Normal wear items such as propellers, cases and cables

How shipping & delivery work

Dispatch

Order before 13:00 SAST on business days for same-day dispatch.

Dispatch Monday - Friday. Weekend orders are dispatched on the following business day.

Major cities

1 - 3 business days (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha).

Regional & farm deliveries

3 - 5 business days (outlying, rural and farm-gate deliveries).

Collection

Collection by appointment from Stargate Centre, 20 Buffeldoorn, Flamwood, Klerksdorp, North West, 2571.

Free insured courier on orders over R15 000 (VAT inclusive). Below that, a R450 flat courier fee applies. Every shipment is insured for full replacement value against loss and transit damage. Lithium batteries travel by road as declared dangerous goods, which can add a day to some deliveries.

Why buying genuine, locally, matters

Grey-import and marketplace drones are often cheaper on the sticker, but they can arrive with chargers for foreign plugs and no South African warranty. When something fails, the only option is to post the drone overseas and wait.

Buying from a registered local company means a valid VAT invoice for your business, a serial number registered to you, and a warranty claim handled in South Africa. It also means there is a phone number and a physical address you can go to if anything goes wrong.
